SUMMARY:Structure and Gait Analysis Workshop
DESCRIPTION:“It speaks poorly of us if we ask our dogs to do things that could break them down prematurely and so diminish the quality of their lives as they age. However\, we can’t make the right choices or our dogs if we don’t know their structural issues\, so we must work to fill in our information blanks with practical knowledge […] Putting titles on our dogs can feel great\, but acting in their best interests is a mark of personal integrity and a commendable measure of respect for the dogs that are dependent on our knowledge and awareness. And when we act in good conscience\, we elevate our identity both as dog enthusiasts and human beings.” – Pat Hastings\, Structure in Action: The Makings of a Durable Dog \nThis is an ideal seminar for people who are passionate about dogs and love learning the “why’s”. During this introduction to structure and gait analysis\, we will try to look at dogs with “better” eyes\, seeing both the positive aspects of their structure and gait as well as the challenges a dog may face. We’ll talk about structure from head to toe\, and use what we learn to evaluate participants dogs. This seminar is all about being proactive instead of reactive – if we can identify a concern in advance\, we can choose to do something about it. \nParticipants are welcome to bring a dog to this workshop; there is no difference between the cost of an auditing or working spot. Dogs who are participating should be comfortable in new environments and around other dogs\, and enjoy being touched by humans.
